Treatments for gas and babies
Let’s chat gassy babies! 👶🏼💨
Even though gas is very common in babies, it can be very uncomfortable.
In this post we will give a few tips how you can relieve gas in your baby.
⬇️⬇️⬇️
Here are a few things that might help:
🔸 Tummy Time:
This position can put gentle pressure on their belly, helping to provide gas relief. Wait at least 3️⃣0️⃣ minutes after a feeding to allow your baby’s belly to settle before starting tummy time. Or try a more advanced move, use both hands and a lot of guided support to lay your baby tummy down on a large beach or exercise ball and gently roll her on the ball in a circular motion 👋.
🔸 Massage Tummy 👐:
Make sure baby is laying on her back, gently rub baby’s tummy in a clockwise motion and then pull your hands down the curve of the belly. Massaging in a clockwise direction helps to move gas along as that is the route the intestinal tract follows. Repeat several times to help move trapped gas.
🔸Gas drops/ gripe water💧:
Do always check with your baby’s doctor before starting any kind of medicine or supplement for gas.
🔸Control the air 🌬️:
Whether it’s a bottle or breast try feeding your baby in a more upright position to cut back on the air baby is swallowing. If you’re breastfeeding, be sure your baby is properly latched. For bottle-fed babies, test anti-gas nipples and bottles, which can change the flow of milk and reduce the amount of air your baby swallows. Be sure that the nipple is always completely full with milk. And try to avoid shaking the bottle too much, which can add extra bubbles to the milk.
And there are so many more tips and tricks you can try to help your baby from releasing gas. 👩⚕️
